For high school students in the throes of adolescence, it can be hard to imagine going off to college and making that first big step into independent adulthood. For some students, the entire prospect triggers an existential crisis and a fair bit of panic.

We understand! In addition to the end of high school marking an important rite of passage for American students, our brains’ frontal lobes– which are responsible for decision-making and organization– don’t fully mature until we’re around 25. Talk about a perfect storm for stress as our young people are tasked with making the most important decision of their lives up to this point before their brains are even fully able to process it.

With all the uncertainty that adolescence brings, we took some time ask the bona fide adults in our circle an important question: “Looking back with the perspective you have now, what advice would you give students today?”

What do you think? Do our Verified Adults have it right? What advice would you add?
